People On Campus!

So I was walking to class and I saw a bunch of people holding signs and shouting in front of the Holmes Student Center. Their signs were saying ,"These People Are Crazy" and "These People Are Wierd". Since I had a little extra time, I stopped to see what was going on. There was this old man saying that almost everyone is going to hell. He believed that if a person has piercings, they are going to hell. If a person has a tattoo, they are going to hell. If a person is gay/lesbian, they are "definately" going to hell. The old man also had a little demonstration for the so called gays and lesbians. He grabbed prongs that you would normally plug into a television, and tried to plug them into each other. He screamed, "See, they don't fit together! Therefore, men shouldn't date men and women shouldn't date women!" I just thought this was kind of wierd because wouldn't this bother people who are gay/lesbian or people who have piercings or tattoos. This bothered me a little because I have both tattoos and piercings. I would like to live my life hoping I don't go to hell! But according to this guy, I am. RUDE!

I completely agree with AsiA. I do not think these people had any right to be out there saying these things. I understand people can voice their own opinions, but I think this is just very rude. For people that do have piercings/tattoos or are gay/lesbian, this would be very offending. I personally do have piercings and I am a bit offended by this. I really do not appreciate these people doing this.

I agree with Asia as well. We disucssed this event after it happened in my University 101 class. My teacher said that these people come about once a semester and they try to say that NIU is a horrible place and everyone here is going to hell. I don't understand how that group of people can consider themselves christian when they are going around judging other people and making them feel terrible about themselves. If this group of people were true christians they wouldn't criticize others. I feel terrible for whoever was made fun of and told that they were going to hell. Everyone has their own views on heaven and hell, and no one can tell you how to live your life.
